I joined Lee Abbey as director in January this year. Before I worked in different customer service roles around the world – ferries in France, the aquarium in Sydney, resorts in Cumbria, a language school in Spain. I love working here and enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of the students and seeing the fun they are having, and I love that God’s love is so apparent in this place – even when you do not actually notice it! I love worshiping God, cycling and sailing and playing with my dog Zippy.
I love working at Lee Abbey. I became a Priest in the Church of England in 2017 after working as a physiotherapist and also teaching English as a second language (in my free time).
I enjoy meeting people, going out for coffee (or tea) with friends and reading fiction. I have just joined a gospel choir which is fun!
I first joined the Lee Abbey London community as a volunteer over 20 years ago, I met my wife here, Monika. I’m from South Africa. I love meeting people from around the world and seeing them grow in their faith through being part of this community. In my spare time I love cooking, reading, hiking, camping and anything outdoors.
I’m a transplant to the UK from the US, via the Netherlands and Israel. I enjoy jazz, Ethiopian coffee, London markets and curried goat with rice and peas.
As a Facilities Project Manager, I enjoy solving problems and taking care of Health and Safety issues. I love music and play the piano and bass guitar. I have been a music director for 15 years. I love and play contemporary gospel, jazz and African gospel praise. I am a people person and an excellent communicator. I am originally from Nigeria .
In truth, my name is Saffie, its short for Sappfrul; my mum invented my name. I grew up in a non-Christian background and came to faith when I was 17. I have 1 brother who is 11 years older than me. I have lived for most of my life in and around London. I’m a decent pool player so I’ve been told. I also love to tell terrible dad jokes and puns.
I am originally from Germany and I came to the UK in 2015. I am married. In my free time, I enjoy going for walks in parks, my favourite one in London is Holland park. I enjoy working here with other community members.
