| 1. Do I have to be an international student? Preference is given to students from overseas who are in the UK for the first time. However, we do accept applications from any student who is over 18 and enrolled in full-time education.
2. How do I apply for a place? To apply please post a completed Application Form to the Accommodation Office. Spaces at Lee Abbey do fill up very quickly. We advise you to apply as early as possible. All of our places in single rooms have normally been allocated by June and all other spaces by the end of August. 3. When can I expect an answer to my application? When we receive your application by post we will send an acknowledgement within a few days and an offer of a place will be made if possible. If all spaces are already under offer, your application will be put on a waiting list in case of any cancellations. 4. Can I stay at Lee Abbey for a second year? We do welcome reapplications from returning students. The maximum length of stay is normally 3 years. 5. How much will it cost and do I have to pay it all at once? Prices vary depending on the type of room you are offered. To view current prices please click here. You will be asked to pay your entire term’s fees at the beginning of each term. 6. Can I stay at Lee Abbey during the holidays? We do welcome applications from students to stay over the holiday periods. Accommodation during the holidays is granted on a “first-come-first-served” basis. 7. Can I connect to the Internet from my bedroom?
Yes. Lee Abbey is pleased to be able to provide wireless Internet
access free to all long-term students. A refundable deposit of £50
is required before connection is enabled.
8. What if I don’t get on with my roommate? If you have trouble getting on with your roommate, please talk to the accommodation office staff and they will do their best to diffuse the situation or allocate you to another room if possible. 9. What are the meals like? All meals are prepared to a very high standard. The main meal in the evening always has a selection of salads, a choice of three main courses (one vegetarian) and pudding or fruit. 10. What is the “Community” and do I have to be a Christian? Lee Abbey is staffed by a “community” of young Christian volunteers from around the world who join us for up to a year at a time. We live on site and help to keep the Club running. We also worship together regularly in the mornings and on Wednesday evenings. Lee Abbey welcomes applications for accommodation from students of all faiths or none. You do not have to be a Christian to stay at Lee Abbey. |
