Booking Conditions

BASIS OF STAY
All who are allocated a place at Lee Abbey are granted a licence to reside for a fixed period. Lee Abbey is a specified educational institution under the terms of Schedule 1 of the Housing Act 1988 and cannot therefore provide an Assured Tenancy to those who stay here.

Eligibility
In order to qualify for “Resident” status you must be a full-time student at a recognised educational institution in London. All applicants must be aged 18 years or over.

Length of Stay
All bookings are made on a termly basis. This means that all Residents are required to book and pay for each entire term. Residents who leave Lee Abbey during a term will be required to pay fees until the end of term. The minimum length of stay is 1 term. Term dates are as follows:
Term 1: From Saturday 27 September 2008 until Saturday 20 December 2008
Term 2: From Saturday 10 January 2009 until Saturday 4 April 2009
Term 3: From Saturday 25 April 2009 until Saturday 27 June 2009

Payment
The fees for each term should be in full before or on arrival. A fine may be charged for late fee payment.

Deposit
When we make you an offer of a place we will ask you to pay a deposit of 4 weeks fees. This deposit is held throughout your stay and returned after your final departure provided that all bills have been paid and no damage done to your room.

Notice of Departure
All residents must give 1 term’s written notice of their final departure. Failure to give the correct notice will result in your deposit being forfeited.

holidays
If you go away on holiday at the end of term you will be charged a retainer of £2.00 per night while you are away. You must clear your room of all your belongings (we have a storage facility) and check out by 10.30am on the last day of term. If you would like to stay at Lee Abbey during the holidays, you must arrange this directly with the Accommodation Officer. Holiday accommodation is booked on a first come first served basis.

cancellation
If we offer you a space at Lee Abbey and you subsequently cancel after you have paid your deposit, the following conditions apply:
• For cancellation up to four weeks before you are due to return: the equivalent of 1 week’s fees will be non-returnable
• For cancellation up to two weeks before you are due to return: the equivalent of 2 weeks’ fees will be non-returnable.
• For cancellation up to one week before you are due to return: the equivalent of 3 weeks’ fees will be non-returnable.
• For non-arrival or cancellation with less than one week’s notice, your entire deposit will be non-returnable.
